November Goals

I haven’t set monthly goals for about a year now and I’m really struggling with feeling like I haven’t accomplished anything this year. Therefore, I am going to start set monthly goals again. This really helps me to focus on what is truly important to me and get my life in order.

Blog Goals

There is a lot I want to accomplish with this blog. I want to be able to bring you, my readers, valuable content and not get sidetracked with a random endeavor.

  1. Do a financial planning series. I’m not sure that this will actually be posted in November but I have big ideas for this series. I want to show you how I deal with my financial planning and hopefully help someone out.
  2. Setup a new feature. I have plans in the works for a Friday Finds feature to share with you some of the great things I have come across each week.
  3. Bullet Journal and weekly spreads. I recently dove head first into bullet journaling but I still use an Erin Condren planner as well. I want to share some of these spreads with you.

Personal Goals

  1. Win NaNoWriMo. I’m participating in NaNoWriMo this month for the first time ever! I’ve had a novel idea bouncing around in my head for the past couple of months so I decided to just go for it. I’m hoping to finish a 50,000 word draft by November 30.
  2. Participate in the #PlanWithMeChallenge on Instagram. This is a monthly challenge on Instagram and Facebook. My instagram name is @lifeofaplanneraddict if you want to follow along.

That’s all I’m going to try to accomplish for the month of November. Do you have monthly goals? Let me know one of yours in the comments.

Closet Organization

I was finally able to get my closet organized for the most part. There are still a few things that I want to rearrange but those things don’t belong to me so for the time being they are remaining where they are.

Here is my dreaded before picture. Everything was just in a state of disarray and thrown in the bottom. I didn’t know where half of my clothes were and on top of that most of them didn’t even fit.

When I first decided to clean this area, I wasn’t really sure where to start. I ended up taking everything out of my closet and putting them on my bed. If you have a problem with actually staying motivated (which I do), the thing that works for me is to put the items that need to be put away on my bed. This way I have to put them up before I can go to bed.

I sorted through all of my clothes and any thing that didn’t fit I put in a garbage bag to donate. The only time I wouldn’t put it in the donation bag was if it had holes or stains. Those went in a garbage bag to be thrown away. I ended up with 2 huge bags of clothes for donation! I still feel like I need to get rid of a few more clothes though.

I think this looks much better than it did before. What do you think? What are your tips for organizing your closet?

When Life Happens

I had a couple of blog posts that were planned for last week but I never got around to actually writing them. I just wanted to let everyone know why.

Life happened.

My 10 month old started walking and is cutting her second tooth. She has also decided that she doesn’t need sleep which means that I don’t get any sleep either. For example, she took a 15 min nap yesterday and then went to sleep at 7. I’m normally at work during that time so when my mom said that’s what time she has been going to sleep I thought nothing of it. I should have known better though. She woke up at 8:30 and refused to go back to sleep until 1:30 this morning. That’s fine and dandy but mama needs her sleep too.

I also got engaged this past weekend to my boyfriend of 5 months. I love him and can’t wait to be his wife. It helps that he is extremely good with the lo and on nights like these when she doesn’t sleep I wish he were here to help me out. So I will be planning a wedding soon so I will probably be posting about that here as it happens.

I didn’t get the job I wanted/needed. It happens. It’s hard when you’ve been looking for months for a job that fits with your skills. In my case, I have a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. I only have 2 and 1/2 years of experience so it’s hard to find a job right now. It’s extremely discouraging especially when you have a lot of student loans to pay back.

What do you do when life happens?

Pick yourself back up. Life likes to throw curve balls. It’s how you handle them that shows what kind of a person you are. Things aren’t going completely the way I want them to right now. That’s completely okay. I can’t let the fact that I only have a part-time job right now get me down. Yes I have bills to pay but I haven’t defaulted on them. I pay them on time. I’m barely making it by most months but I’m making it.

Find the good in what’s going on. I may not have the job of my dreams, but I have a job. I also get to marry the man that has completely swept me off my feet. I never thought that would happen for me. (Which looking back is dumb because I’m only 27.) I have a healthy daughter and that’s what matters most to me.

No matter what season you are in, life can be rough. You can make it though. Thanks for letting me share what’s been going on with my life lately. It always helps to have an outlet. Is there anything going on in your life you’d like to share? Let me know in the comments!

Sneak Peak Inside My Planning System: Blog Planner

As I sat down to write this post, I realized that I haven’t actually used my blog planner in months. It is definitely time to re-evaluate how I plan for my blog especially since I have now added a second blog. I designed this really nice blog planner and it’s been collecting dust because what I thought I would use, it turns out is not practical for me.

That being said, this is what my current planning looks like.

It is basically a two page spread for each month. I have the dates listed with what day of the week it falls on. Since the blog I use this for is a book blog, this works really well for me. A lot of my posts are for promoting books and include blog tours and cover reveals. Those are set for specific days so after I get my confirmation of which day I’m scheduled for, I just write it in.

The main problem I am having right now is trying to implement a way for me to plan out my posts for Life of A Planner Addict. These are posts that require a little more thought because they come directly from me. I hope to be able to bring all of my readers (that’s you!) valuable content and that means I need to find a planning system that will work well.

I will be back next week for another edition of Sneak Peek Inside My Planning System. I hope you will come back too!

A Sneak Peek Inside My Planning System: Everyday Planner

For 2016 I made my own planner to include everything that I wanted. I have tried countless planners and nothing ever seemed to work for me. I ended up with three different planners. All three of them are in ARC notebooks with two of them being the junior size and the other one the full size.

I’m going to split this up into 3 different parts because if not this post would be way too long. Part 1 will feature my everyday planner. It is a junior sized ARC notebook with a floral cover.

The sections I have included in my everyday planner are:

  • Monthly Calendar
  • Daily To Do
  • Goals
  • Master Lists
  • Fitness

I have each section marked with a blue tab divider.

Monthly Calendar

In the Monthly Calendar section, I have exactly what it sounds like; monthly calendars for 2016. I use these for keeping up with appointments and my work schedule. I use these printables from the Sweet Life Planner Club. I did an in-depth post about the Sweet Life Planner Club that you can see here.

Daily To Do

I don’t use this section every day since I don’t have to remember to do a bunch of things every day. I use these pages for when I have a lot going on and I really need to remember to get tasks done by a certain date or time. I use this free printable from I Heart Planners. Note: this printable is colorful if you get it from I Heart Planners. I wanted my planner to be very simple so I printed everything in black and white.

The Goals section is exactly what it sounds like. I have pages to list my big goals for the year and then a breakdown sheet for each individual goal to list out what it will take to reach that goal. I also have habit trackers for each month. I use these for healthy habits I want to make or unhealthy ones  I want to break. I made all the printables for this section.

Master Lists

The Master Lists section is very versatile. I use it to keep track of books I read, books I want to read, shows on Netfllix that I want to watch, etc. I have a daily Bible reading chart in this section because I wanted to read the entire Bible in a year. This section also includes several brain dump sheets so that I can write down any ideas that come to mind so I don’t forget them. I would say this is probably my favorite section. I made all of the printables in this section.

I use the Fitness section for tracking my weight and measurements. I have daily fitness trackers that I designed and use to keep track of the food I eat, my workouts, and water intake. There is also a couple of pages included with workout ideas and a motivation page. I made all of the printables in this section including a laminated mason jar set to record pounds lost and left to go.

There you have it. That’s my Everyday Planner. I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek.

Part 2 will feature my blog planner. I also have a book blog over at The Crafty Engineer’s Bookshelf and this planner is tailored for that.

Sweet Life Planner Club

I have a slight addiction to all things printable. Be it calendars, daily to do lists, pretty quotes, etc. If it’s pretty and I can print it myself then I want it. I love printables so much that I made my own planner for 2016 and tried to make some of my own printables (more on that later).

Laura at I Heart Planners shares this addiction and I fell in love when I found her blog. I printed the Daily page below a year or so ago when she first posted it and I still use it to this day. It’s easy to see that Laura puts a lot of thought and time into each of her printables.

Enter the Sweet Life Planner Club. Laura decided to do a monthly subscription that gives you access to a huge collection of printables that she has made. She even takes requests for printables that any club member wants or needs. I have been a member of this “club” since she opened it to the public and I love it! The best part is there is no long-term commitment so if you try it out and decide it’s not for you or you can’t afford it then it’s no big deal. It is very easy to cancel or even pause your subscription. Although if you like printables and/or planning then I highly doubt you will cancel.

Laura has a page set up that gives you tons more info about everything that comes in club and you can find that here. There is a 12 week course on Creating Your Own Planning System and it is super helpful. I hope you will check it out!

BzzAgent #MyFirstBzz

What is BzzAgent?

BzzAgent is an international network of consumers who voluntarily participate in word-of-mouth campaigns for a variety of products and services. Basically, as a BzzAgent, I receive products for free to try and then give my honest opinion of them through social media and by leaving reviews of those products on sites like Amazon. Each trial period is called a campaign and each campaign is different. What I mean by that is there are different tasks that I can complete for each campaign and it is up to that company as to what these tasks are.

What type of products?

You might be wondering what types of products I receive as a BzzAgent. The answer to that is pretty much all types. Right now I have a tube of toothpaste that I received through BzzAgent. The welcome kit however included a magnet (see below) that says it is for holding coupons so I assume that some campaigns include coupons that I will be able to give out to my family and friends so they can try out the products as well.

I will most likely be posting future product reviews here so I thought I would share a little bit about what BzzAgent is. I had never heard of it until about a month ago and so far I’m really enjoying it!
