Why I Want To Get Organized

I graduated with my degree in chemical engineering in May of 2014 and I had a job waiting for me that I absolutely loved. I felt like something was missing from my life though. So I decided to give the internet dating thing a try. I tried multiple sites and met many guys but most of them were not worth my time. I met a guy on one of these sites and we talked for over a month before we decided to meet in person. I really liked him and thought maybe things will work out. Then I got pregnant and he bailed.

If you have kids then you know how expensive it is to raise a child and doing it on a single income completely by yourself is overwhelming. All of my family lived 4 hours away and daycare was going to cost as much as my rent! After my daughter was born I made the decision to quit my job and move back in with my parents.

I moved all of our¬†belongings (which fit in a two bedroom apartment) into a storage building and my old bedroom at my childhood home. That’s a lot of stuff to begin with but as I sit here and look around this room, it’s obvious that a lot of it is junk. I don’t want to be weighed down by this junk anymore.

To show you an example of how bad it currently is, here is a picture of the current state of my closet.

I’m embarrassed that it looks that bad but I just wanted to give you an idea of how badly I need to declutter and organize. My entire room looks that bad and I will be starting on decluttering it later today.

I feel like this was a long post but I wanted you to be able to understand my why for doing this. Leave me a comment and let me know why you do what you do.

Hello World!

My name is Brittany and I’m a single mother to a beautiful little girl. By nature I am a messy person. My mom likes to tell me that no one else lives the way I do with all the mess that I live in. I’m not quite hoarder status yet but if I keep letting things pile up, I will be there soon. That’s not good since I’m only in my late 20s. I have to get my life organized.

As you probably guessed from the title of this blog, I’m addicted to planners. I’ve tried a lot of different ones and have come to realize there is no one perfect planner. One thing I need to work on is using my planner to help me get and stay organized.

I made this blog as a way to keep myself accountable. I also want to share the ups and downs of this journey. My plan is to share my weekly planner spreads and the steps I am taking to get my messiness under control. I’ll share what helps me to get organized as I go including any tools I come across and pictures of the changes I make. There’s sure to be an occasional tidbit of what is going on in my life as well.

I hope you’ll stick around for my journey. I would love to hear what some of your ideas are for getting organized. Leave me a comment below and let me know!
